The White Sox had a really nice number retirement ceremony for Paul Konerko yesterday and I was lucky enough to attend. The game was packed! Standing room tickets were selling for $75 face value at the box office. We got there 2 hours early and still barely got onto the overflow parking lot before it was full. It took an equally long time to get out. Here are some pictures from the festivities.
As for the game itself vs the Twins, it was a disappointment. I was hoping to see Joe Mauer (former River Bandit) but with Chris Sale on the mound he got the day off. He did pinch hit but was intentially walked. The two most exciting plays involved Adam Eaton. First, he hit an RBI triple which really got the crowd going. Then in the 8th inning he hit a gapper to the warning track but Aaron Hicks made a diving, game-saving catch for the Twins. Torri Hunter and Eduardo Nunez both homered for the Twins in the win.
